The League Challenge

Gym Leader Positions are open. If you would like to apply for a gym leader position, please fill out the application and let us know who you are wanting to replace.

Welcome to the Bohren Pokemon League informational network! Here you will find everything you need to know about challenging the League-sanctioned gym system here in Bohren!

Like most regions, Bohren boasts eight gyms and an Elite Four. The gym cycle begins in Quakeburg and ends in Umberville City. Beginning trainers are encouraged to challenge the gyms in order, but experienced trainers can challenge the gyms in any order they choose, (if they can).

Keep in mind that some Tournaments during the circuit may require your character to have a certain number of gym badges or even a specific gym badge to participate. Your character is not required to challenge the gyms but if you want to be able to participate in all tournaments, taking on the leaders is a must.

Some of our gym leaders are NPCs, which means that their character is available to be apped. Others are currently player characters, although their positions may become available in the future.

The order of the gyms are as follows:

1. Ground: Shawn, [personal profile] quakekid
2. Fighting: Dean, ???
3. Water: Skyler, [personal profile] dudeihaveagym
4. Grass: Hazel, ???
5. Ice: Dakota, ???
6. Ghost: Viktor, [personal profile] pain_split
7. Flying: Elijah, [personal profile] headshotsavvy

Challenging Gym Leaders

-Beginning Trainers

Trainers who have begun their education in the Bohren region are required to take the gym challenge in order, starting with the Ground gym and ending with the Dark gym. The gyms will get progressively harder as the character continues on their journey. This is beneficial to the growth of your character's Pokemon. Each gym has a level cap, and none of the gym leader's Pokemon will be higher than the level cap. Your character's Pokemon will not able to use moves learned after the level cap. For example, your Trapinch cannot learn Fissure before challenging the entire league. This is to encourage a steady growth for everyone's beginning trainer. Trainers can request a Badge Case from the mods to put in their character's profile - this helps players keep track of where your character is on their Pokemon journey and helps the mods make sure your Pokemon aren't growing too fast.

A quick note on levels: if you want your character to go through a Charizard/Mamoswine situation (where the Pokemon grows too quickly and becomes disobedient) please let the mods know. We like to see this as it promotes character growth - however, this Pokemon cannot be utilized to 'sweep' through the gym system quickly.

-Advanced Trainers

Trainers who enter Bohren from other regions are also welcome to challenge the gym circuit. Gym leaders must be able to hold their own against trainers of all strengths and levels of discipline, after all. If you are batteling on the advanced circuit via shoddy or DS, you will consider that your teams are at level 100. Technically all teams are not at level 100, and if you would like to keep track of your Pokemon's level through out the course of the game, feel free to do so. Keep in mind that Pokemon can learn all moves they are capable of learning in this circuit, however the following moves are banned:

- Double Team
- Minimize
- Guillotine
- Sheer Cold
- Fissure

The cap is there to make sure everyone is on equal grounds. If both the leader and challenger want to lower the cap to level standard or to level 50, they are more than welcome to, but like EV's, this is something that must be agreed upon by other players. All gym leaders will have 6 Pokemon each for the Advanced Route, and they are not going to take it easy on your character! If you would like to do a variety battle with a gym leader (Say your character only has 3 Pokemon they can battle with normally) you can speak with the player and do a 3v3 or 4v4 or even a 1v1, but again, this must be agreed upon.

As level 100 is considered a mastery level that is rarely met by a real Pokemon, the true level of the advanced circuit would be around the same as the Heart Gold and Soul Silver re-challenge levels, 50's-60's. All Leaders and trainers Pokemon have room to grow and change. Moves and be relearned or changed and retraining can take places as often as the trainer would like.

Gym Leaders

Because Bohren's main attraction are the many tournaments held by our League, gym leaders are not required to remain in their gyms. At any time, any of the leaders may be participating in one of the many tournaments across the region. Gym leaders may choose to offer badges to the opponents they battle in the tournaments, however the League tends to frown on this since it takes away from the focus of the tournament as a whole. At any time, gym leaders may be called away from the tournament to return to their hometown and take a gym challenge - playing a gym leader is time consuming, since they must always be available for battling. Please keep this in mind if you wish to app a gym leader.

The following roster contains the current gym leaders of the region. Leaders who are not currently player characters are available to be apped. Characters wishing to take over the position of gym leader must issue a challenge in-game for the leaders gym - and be aware that the gym leaders will be bringing out the big guns for any challenge of this nature. Expect their teams to be at their max.

League Champion: *****

Becoming the League Champion

Player characters who defeat the Bohren gym cycle, the Elite Four and the current League Champion will be given the option of becoming the new League Champion. The Champion's duties are varied and many - they are the figurehead of the Pokemon League and are usually the person the League calls on to make public statements. They are a region-wide celebrity, at least until they are defeated and the next Champion takes their place. They are expected to have a presence at and participate in every tournament held by the League. In short, the life of the Champion is an active and tiring one! Please think carefully before you decide that your character can take over this position - Champions who do not fulfill their duties are usually brought up in front of the League for a performance review, and can be stripped of their title if found derelict - ouch! Many trainers every year defeat the Champion and choose not to take their place.
